After every four years, we celebrate the most celebrated event of the year, Olympic Games which is popularly known as Olympiad. It was in the year 1986 the first Olympiad of modern times was celebrated and then thereafter subsequent Olympiads are numbered consecutively, even when no event took place (as in the case in 1916, 1940 and 1944)

Olympic opening ceremony is one of the important Event, where the sitting president of the international Olympic committee (IOC) delivers a speech before representative from the host country to officially declare the opening of the particular games.

Since the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games from 2018, total 47 different individuals have opened the Olympic Games. Four dignitaries have opened the ceremony event for more than four times.

The 1936 Winter and Summer Olympics Opening ceremony was opened by German fuhrer Adolf Hitle, hosted in Germany. He is also the only person to open more than one Olympic Games in the same year.

Apart from Adolf Hitler, Giovanni Gronchi, an Italian President opened the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo and the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. The 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo was opened by the Japanese emperor Hirohito.

Two Olympics Opening ceremony the 1976 (Montreal, Canada) and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Great Britain was opened by Queen Elizabeth II. She is the first person and the first woman to open more than one Summer Olympics and also to host in different countries. She also represented the declaration of Olympic Games four times – the 1956 and 2000 Summer Olympics (held in Australia) and 1988 and 2010 Winter Olympics (held in Canada).
